Sandro Gives Wrangler’s Cowboy Denim a Parisian Makeover

Iconic Western films from the late ’60s led French contemporary brand Sandro’s creative team to Wrangler.

On Monday, the two brands launched a Fall/Winter 2023 collection that reinterprets archival Western designs. The 10-piece collaboration marries Sandro’s Parisian elegance with ’70s silhouettes pulled from Wrangler’s past.

Though the collection was conceived by Sandro’s men’s design studio, the fluid capsule collection is intended for both men and women.

References to ’70s cowboy culture and fashion are found throughout the line. A trio of jacket and trouser sets—available in tobacco, faded indigo and medium indigo—maintains Wrangler’s signature codes like flat rivets, flap seams and W-shaped pocket topstitching. The pieces also feature Wrangler-branded leather labels and a fifth pocket.

The collection also includes two T-shirts and two sweatshirts, available in black and white. The casual tops are adorned with retro Wrangler rainbow embroidery.

Sustainability is woven into the collection as well, underscoring both brands’ commitment to using more responsible ingredients and processes. The 100 percent cotton denim pieces are produced with low-impact washes measured by Jeanologia’s EIM tool which monitors the environmental impact of denim garment washing and finishing processes in terms of water and energy consumption, chemical use, and impact on people.

The tobacco set is made with a wool-polyester blend that uses 50 percent recycled polyester. Additionally, the cotton jersey pieces are made from organic fiber.

The collection is available now on Sandro’s EU website and retails for 95 euros to 365 euros, or approximately $102-$394. It will launch in the U.S. at later date.
