Example: Create Atlas Region Sets

Goal: You want to combine two or more region layers to create a single set of layers. You will combine the region layers Tribe Borders and Israel's Neighbors into a single region set.

Note

Atlas sets are created by grouping multiple layers. The procedure is the same for Sites, Regions, Routes, and User Layers.

Create a Custom Region Set by doing the following:

  1. Open a 2D Atlas tab. An Atlas tab can be opened via the Library, the File menu, or the Workspace toolbar.
  2. Select Define Region Sets from the Region Layers pop-up menu. The Define Region Sets dialog box appears.
  3. Click New at the top of the Define Region Sets dialog box. [New set] appears in the Name of set field.
  4. Double-click Tribes of Israel in the Region Layers area of the Define Region Sets dialog box. Tribes of Israel is displayed in the Layers selected box.
  5. Double-click Tribe Borders in the Region Layers area of the Define Region Sets dialog box. Tribe Borders is displayed in the Layers selected box.
  6. Give your new region set a unique name in the Name of Setfield by typing Borders of Israel/Neighbors.
  7. Click OK. The Borders of Israel/Neighbors region set is created and displayed in the 2D Atlas tab.

The new region layer can now be displayed by selecting Borders of Israel/Neighbors from the Region Layers pop-up menu.
