Concern for Bryan Danielson was raised during a taping of AEW Collision that took place last night when it appeared he had suffered his third major injury of the year. During his AEW Continental Classic match with Andrade El Idolo that took place on the show, Danielson appeared to suffer yet another injury through photos that emerged on social media during the taping itself. Danielson only returned to the ring last week after suffering a broken orbital bone in late October.
Danielson was seen bleeding from his left eye, which has been covered with an eyepatch since his return to the ring earlier this month, while being checked on by various AEW medical officials as well as Claudio Castagnoli, Jon Moxley, and Wheeler Yuta in the ring. Haus of Wrestling didn’t hear back from AEW when we asked for clarification and those we spoke to within the company indicated that there were some “rumblings” about the situation backstage.
Fightful Select reports, however, that the situation was simply an angle and that Danielson isn’t injured at all. Additionally, the outlet noted that The American Dragon is expected to be at tonight’s AEW Dynamite in Montreal, though it’s unknown if he’ll appear on the show as he’s currently not advertised, and that backstage figures are very happy with the match quality of the Collision taping as a whole.
Danielson is one of the 12 competitors in the AEW Continental Classic and currently has three points after defeating Eddie Kingston in his first match of the tournament last week. This puts him tied second in the Blue League with Andrade El Idolo and his Blackpool Combat Club stablemate Claudio Castagnoli, only beaten by Brody King who has six points with two straight wins. Outside of the tournament, he’s also set for a huge match with Kazuchika Okada at Wrestle Kingdom 18 next month.
