Region colors

You can define colored zones on the gage to indicate acceptable, unacceptable and cautionary levels of the statistic being reported. Red, yellow and green are commonly-used colors for these areas, but you may choose the colors that work best for you.

To define the regions and their colors, click Edit Region Colors. This displays the Define Gage Region Colors screen.

To configure a new region and color:

  1. Click Add.

  2. Set the Start value for color and End value for color.

For each of these settings, you can enter a number, specify a percentage of the range between the Minimum and Maximum, or select a statistic.

Using percentages or statistics for these settings makes it easy to copy gages and KPI dashboards because you don't need to manually update these settings for each instance of the gage.

  • To assign a fixed number to this setting, click the Start value or End value list and select User-defined number.

Then type the desired number in the Number box.

  • To specify a percentage of the range, click the Start value or End value list and select Percent of minimum to maximum.

Then type the desired number in the Number box.

  • To choose a statistic for this setting, select any other option from the Start value or End value list.

By default, this list contains only an abbreviated collection of statistics. If you cannot find the desired statistic, click the button to select from the full list of statistics.

There are two ways to choose a statistic from this list:

  • Click the list and browse the available items.

  • Search the list by typing your search text in the Contains box and then clicking Find next.

The region you have defined is now displayed in the Defined regions list.

  1. To set the color for this region, click Edit color.

Choose from one of the Basic colors, or click Define Custom Colors for more options.

Select a color and then click OK.

The selected color is now applied to the current region in the Defined regions list.

  2. To configure additional regions and colors, repeat the steps above.

Changing or Removing a Defined region

In the Defined regions list, click the region you want to change or remove.

If multiple regions have been defined, an asterisk (*) will be displayed in the selected region.

Now you may change the Start value or End value for this region, change its color, or delete it by clicking Remove.
