Well, that’s one way to celebrate Super Bowl weekend!

Scandalized former beauty queen Carrie Prejean became engaged to St. Louis Rams quarterback Kyle Boller on Saturday, E! News reports.

The couple reportedly made their year-and-a-half romance official in Prejean’s hometown of San Diego, where Boller, 28, spends his time during the off-season.

As the former Miss California, the 22-year-old Prejean became embroiled in controversy after speaking out against same-sex marriage during the 2009 Miss USA pageant.

“And, you know what, in my country, in my family, I think that I believe that marriage should be between a man and a woman, no offense to anybody out there,” she said in response to a question posed by pageant judge Perez Hilton. “But that’s how I was raised and I believe that it should be between a man and a woman.”

Prejean was runner up in the 2009 Miss USA pageant, but was eventually dethroned of her Miss California title for an alleged breach of contract. In November, her lawsuit against pageant officials was dropped soon after photos and a raunchy sex tape of Prejean surfaced.

Now with her scandalous past behind her, Prejean can hopefully focus on her new life as a married woman.
