You'll find the full, step-by-step recipe below — but here's a brief overview of what you can expect when you make this beef tips recipe:

Saute onions in oil, then brown the stew meat on all sides. Add 2 cups of water, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper to the skillet and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat and continue cooking until the meat is tender. When the beef tips are nearly finished, add the gravy mix and remaining water. Bring to a boil and cook until the sauce is thickened.

How Long to Cook Beef Tips

You should cook the beef in the sauce until it's tender, about 90 minutes to two hours. When the beef tips are done, an instant read thermometer inserted into the thickest part of the meat will read at least 145 degrees F.

What to Serve With Beef Tips

Beef tips are traditionally served over cooked egg noodles, rice, or even mashed potatoes. As far as sides go, add a little color to your plate by pairing this dish with a simple side salad or steamed vegetables, such as broccoli or asparagus.
