Apparently Ryan Gosling's Ken is not living a life fit for the dreamhouse. While we as a collective have seen entirely too much from the set of Greta Gerwig's Barbie, when it comes to the plot, we know nary a thing. But thank God Ryan is trying to change that. Recently the actor shared that, Ken is living a much harder life than any of us would expect. In fact, it's a life even harder than his character in the Gray Man who is a literal assassin.

Speaking with Entertainment Tonight, Gosling remained pretty tight-lipped for fear that Mattel would come and "box him up" if he revealed too much. Was the pun intended? Unfortunately, it seems so. Anyway, despite the looming threat from the toy company, Gosling was able to share a few details, mainly that Ken is totally broke.

“That Ken life is even harder than the ‘Gray Man’ life, I think,” he said, “Ken’s got no money, he’s got no job, he’s got no car, he’s got no house. He’s going through some stuff." But then again, he's got Barbie on his side so is he really?

Beyond this, Gosling didn't reveal too much more about what we can expect from the Barbie movie. He did talk about having the right "Kenergy" for the role and this being the possible start of a "Kennaissance" (a term which his wife Eva Mendes coined), but that's a conversation for another day. Speaking on what to expect, the actor echoed a similar sentiment to Margot Robbie, who is set to play the titular character. Both actors have made it very clear that when you come to watch Barbie, leave all of your expectations at the door.

“It’s not what you think it is, unless it is,” Gosling teased to Entertainment Tonight, “And then you know what it is, but I don’t think that’s what you think it is. Wait, what are we talking about?”

Like Ryan, when speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Margot confirmed that the movie is set to shatter all of our previous expectations.

"People immediately have an idea of, 'Oh, Margot is playing Barbie, I know what that is,'" she said, "But our goal is to be like, 'Whatever you’re thinking, we’re going to give you something totally different—the thing you didn’t know you wanted.'

Well, now that it's been made clear we don't know what to expect, or rather that, we shouldn't expect anything, we're gonna take a break from all of this teasing. Instead, until the movie premieres in July 2023, you can catch us conducting a very serious deep dive into just how the hell one can learn to exude"Kenergy."
