Britney's 'Circus' Hairstylist Shares How You Can Get Her Waves

Britney may have gotten some flack from PETA for using elephants and lions in her 'Circus' video, but there's one thing even the wild-animal sympathizers have to admit: Her hair looks just as ferosh. I asked Brit's on-set hairstylist, Rob Talty, how we non-pop star types can create these sexy waves at home for the holidays--and he was so kind as to share his secrets.

As you may have noticed, Britney wears her hair long, bobbed and in between at various points in the video. While I don't have the details on exactly how Talty achieved the three different lengths (we all know what magic those celebrity stylists can weave with extensions), here's exactly how he styled each one.

Her long, sculpted waves:

To create the Old Hollywood-looking waves Britney wears as the video begins, Talty used a newfangled tool that other celebrity hairstylists (such as the charming Mr. Ted Gibson) have recently told me they swear by: the Naluwaver. I've yet to try one, but it's supposedly an upgrade on the double-barrel curling iron that lets even the clumsiest home stylist easily achieve those ubiquitous hairbot waves. The trick is to give hair extra 'grip' before Nalu-waving away; Talty did so by misting Renee Furterer Strong Hold Styling Solution all over Britney's hair after blowing it out with a round brush. Then he curled the hair in a figure-eight pattern around the iron's two barrels.

Her tousled shoulder-length waves:

Of the three hairstyles she wears in the 'Circus' video, this one was Britney's favorite. Talty began by using the same Naluwaver curling technique as he did for the longer style, only this time, he brushed the waves out to make them softer and less symmetrical. To boost the hair's volume periodically during shooting, he'd apply Klorane Gentle Dry Shampoo with Oat Extract (this stuff is great for preventing flatness and greasiness).

Her short, sexy ringlets:

For this briefly-glimpsed bob, Talty wound Britney's hair around a tiny, 3/4-inch curling iron, curling the top sections in a backward motion and the bottom and back sections straight up and down. Then he applied Renee Furterer Instant Hold Finishing Spray to lock the ringlets in place.

What do you think about the video and Brit's blond-bombshell look? Would you vote 'Circus' one of Ms. Spears' hottest videos of all time? Have any of you tried this Naluwaver thing yet? Have you downloaded the 'Circus' album yet? I've been listening to it at the gym all week!
